George,

Can you give us the exact setup of your computer? The more information on
your hardware the better we can help.

I recently (just a couple of days ago) installed Jaguar and ran into some
problems of my own. When I tried booting from the CD, the system would start
up and show the OS 9 happy mac (normal for a X install on a Beige) and then
reboot to start from the CD. Accept, when it rebooted it again showed the OS
9 happy mac. My computer got stuck in a repeating loop.

As it turned out, the drive cable that my CD and one internal drive were
connected to was twisted in such a way that the two didn't always show up on
the bus. Thus when it restarted and tried to find the CD, it couldn't. It
only found the drive on the second bus with the OS 9 system folder.

What I'm trying to say is that it often is the small things that cause the
biggest problems with our computers.

Has anything changed (hardware-wise) on your computer since the last time it
successfully booted? Have you opened the case at all between the last
successful boot and the current issues? Have there been any software changes
just before your issue started?

Jim,

The same applies. You say it is as it left Cupertino. You haven't even
replaced your internal hard drive? You've never opened the computer up, even
to install RAM? You have the stock CD and Drive?
