Thank you, Peter. Have you actually located this file
on an OSX-installed HDD folder? There are invisible
files in OSX (just like the old Classic days) and
Carbon Copy Cloner claims to copy them but does not
extend the claim to Beige machines - I tested this -
you cannot make a bootable copy of a drive.
My guess is the Rom Dimm (Rev.A) is resistant to being
re-programmed - (a typical Apple variance) or
conversely, newer versions of OSX have 'forgotten' how
to do the job.
By the way - I confirmed the disk driver conflict this
AM - cold starting, the drive was pre-set to boot into
the OSX partition - and spun up beautifully, choked,
and flopped over into the second, OS9-bearing
partition and voila.
Unless of course, the OS9 driver dominates the X
driver for reasons unknown (I suspect it's to wean us
off of OS9 - makes sense as Apple announces the
imminent death of Classic almost every week, now).
So, has anyone located the OSX HDD driver inside the X
system folder - and could I copy it to the drive that
fails to boot?
Cheers
George
