That doesn't make sense. I am aware that with the right computer and
accessories, that you can create CDs, and with some, update them. Burning
Norton on a CD, then running the update from its web site, will delete the
files and not replace them. And you can not install Norton AntiVirus, unless
you can find all of its files and purge them before attempting to update.

So I can Install; download; Update; Delete all AntiVirus files; and repeat.
And I can repeat that till Hell freezes over, but the bottom line is: you can
not update anything within the AntiVirus folder using itd update gixmo from
the web page.

The only means of updating the version that you have is to purchase and
install a new CD on a regular basis. The Upfate mechanism never worked!

Creating an application, and making the definition file something that is
independent and updateable is a great idea. The problem is: it doesn't work,
and hasn't fpr at least 2 years. Maybe it does now or did once.

Above and beyond this argument, a computer virus is an application created by
some jerk, who is using a 286 or 386 or 486 IBM PC - which creates an IBM
program. IBM PC code will not run on a Mac, unless you install something in
you Mac to convert it to a PC and run DOS and Windows. So it can not affect
a Mac at all. So weather AntiVirus stuff works at all on an IBM PC is a
different subject. Who knows, the Mac update application from the web may
infact be a PC based thing, which it purges its own files and can't replace
them on a Mac.
