As far as the DVD drive I know not all CD and DVD drives are Mac bootable, that one may not be.
I have just tried and neither the CD nor the DVD will boot Panther, but they will boot Jaguar. ---
Is it a original Apple OEM drive or a replacement?

I thought the B&W was fully Panther compatible...
