Re: G4 (DA) DVD R/W advice needed

I installed a Pioneer DVR-107 in my dual-533 DA and have been very 
happy with it. All the iLife apps and the Finder work with it. Actually 
I should say I have been very happy with it since installing updated 
firmware! The drive came with old firmware and wouldn't even let me 
burn at 8x on 8x certified Memorex media!  It would only burn that at 
4x. Installing official firmware probably would have resolved that, but 
I actually installed the hacked 1.18 firmware which lets you burn 4x 
media at 8x. This apparently only works on good quality media. I've 
been using Ritek 4x media and they've burned without problems at 8x! No 
coasters at all.
