We're back here again, yes, I'm yet again bringing up applications where the Mac won't do the job, BUT this time we're talking about a very real world application:
My children's day care centre has a really crappy PC running Windoze 98 and it's crap, so I thought that I can easily put together a B&W G3, 256MB RAM and OS X with all necessary apps. Should do fine for all their needs, bar one...
PRINTING!
Remeber, we're talking real budget here and I can donate a Mac which has a real value of less than $100, however, as they are (successfully) currently using an LPT laser printer, the Mac CAN'T print to it...
So if I want to help them upgrade from a Pentium 400 to a B&W 300 (yes, even I regard 400-300MHz as an upgrade) I have to buy a new printer.
We have three printers here at work, and only the one in my room is PostScript compatible. As the sole Mac user I cannot even dream about printing to the other two. (HP 1200 and some Xerox thing...)
