Trust me Dan, if you limit the discussion to pure image quality, and ignore the "coolness" and energy issues, there will be a lot more people in your camp than you think.

Look at a good, high-end LCD, not one of the cheapo ones.

The "CRT's have better image quality" is an old canard by now. Yes there are a ton of crappy LCD's out there, there were always a ton of crappy CRT's out there, too.

By now CRT versus LCD is largely a 'Vinyl versus CD' religious conflict, imo. A good quality, properly calibrated LCD is quite comparable to any CRT made.
