Hi Tom.

Well frankly if a person wants to voice act they should buy a better mike, and again your quite within reason of saying to someone who offers you a recording "go away and reccord that on a better system"

Really, decent mikes aren't that expensive, not if every youtube jocky who bangs up his/her own video has one.

As regards background noise, well again, that's the person doing the recording's responsability, and if there is a problem, the director should let them know. this happened to me. When I was doing some of the lines for Tdv, I initially reccorded them in my kitchin since I believed it'd be quieter, however my kitching had a quite severe ecco, so I had to do the lines again.

These days I reccord either in my front living room, or bedroom when in my flat, and I make certain to do it in the evening when there is very little chance of traffic sound from outside interfering, though i will say this is where the Rowland R09 helps a lot, since it's pickup field is fairly small meaning it gets all of the users voice.

when I'm at my parents, on the one occasion I needed to reccord I used my brothers' bedroom at the back of the house since out the front there is a major road.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.
