Hi Orin,
Well, supporting PS3 game controllers under Windows is rather
problematic. As usual Sony does not officially support using a
PS3controller with PC games so there are no official drivers etc out
there for them, and DirectX doesn't understand the PS3 input values.
There are, however, hacks and work arounds out there on the web for
getting a PS3 controller working under Windows. I've even heard someone
has written Windows XP/Vista compatible drivers for the PS3 controllers
so if you are interested in using a PS3 game controller with Blood Money
or any other PC game then I'd google for drivers.
That said one thing I can say about Microsoft is that now that they have
updated DirectX and XNA to use newer input libraries such as XInput it
is much easier for a Windows game developer to support XBox 360
controllers. the process is fairly well documented, there are official
drivers for XBox controllers out there, and a developer doesn't have to
jump through hoops to support them. To a game developer, such as myself,
there is a big difference in supporting a controller like the XBox ones
that are fairly straight forward and easy to support than a PS3
controller which is by nature not officially PC compatible. Althougfh,
you can do it if you have the right hacks or third-party drivers
installed etc.
HTH
