Greetings Jim.
I've made it fairly clear before, but I'll reiterate my opinion: I fully
support your decision to focus on a controller that will bring forth your
vision of how the game should be played. The keyboard is a fine staple for
input, but it is rarely the ideal medium for complex maneuvers in games and
other applications. Can you imagine a graphics specialist trying to draw an
F18 fighter jet with just the arrow keys? An animation artist trying to draw
a moving hand with the keyboard?
I applaud you for not caving in to slave over implementing a sub par input
device in your design of Mach 1. I think that product developers have every
right to put their foot down, make things as they wish, then see what
happens -- more so if the end product is free of charge! Rather than try to
please everyone, you should always design it to your vision, make it
something you yourself would enjoy playing, not some Joe Shmo who you'll
probably never meet. If Joe enjoys your game, then more's the better, but by
no means should Joe's satisfaction or lack thereof sway your vision.
Lookin' forward to the new release!
Kai

Hi,
Thank you all for your Mach 1 tts comments and suggestions. I know that
the Logitech MOMO Racing controller is not cheap. It costs like $100.00.
I'm sure that allot of people are not going to or can not spend that kind
of money for a specific game controller. I got half of it as a gift and
paid for the other half. Then I learned the VB6 joystick code. So I then
wanted to write a game that used the steering wheel and was as close to
being like real driving as I could make it. So I am not going to dumb
down the game for the keyboard. I am sorry that the game will probably
not be as much fun with a non steering wheel controller and even less so
with the keyboard, but hey I could have written it and just kept it for
myself. <grin>
Thanks again and BFN
Jim
