I've become so used to sound packs in Muds, so that it feels natural.
WIthout, it just feels weird.

The thing is, though, mud clients for the mac isn't used as much;

Ummm...There are accessible mud clients for Mac OS. One that comes to
mind is called Zoom. Plus you can use the default Mac OS telnet client
in a pinch.
