Hi Yuri
Unfortunetly they didn't appreciate us but we did it because of our little
and not so little furless friends. Also because to ban knowledge and
education is repugnant, and repulsive . Domenic is from Menagarie on
Parliment and Steve and Carole as well as myself were all exec for the OHS.
Tom was a factor as well as another high profile zoo person but it wasn't
Bob.
One of the things we tried to get included was a minimum size restriction
for red earred sliders and green iguanas. We wanted them to be past the
"cute" stage so we would stop getting so many calls when they grew up. Much
like the U.S. has for turtles. I think it is a 4" shell size. But PIJAC won
that one and they still carry hatchlings of both.
I forgot The Turtle and Tortoise Society and a young man from Aquarium
Warehouse.
I think the worst part of it all was sitting through the polititions
posturing etc. I loathe guns but I seriously considered getting one after
the 4th meeting. The worst was when Zoochek accused us of only being in it
for the money with no care or interest in the welfare of our pets!He also
stated that we were totally ignorant about their propeer care and we raped
the wild to feed our habit for the newest__" The funniest was when a
councillor asked Animal Alliance what a Sugar Glider- that they wanted
banned- was and they could not tell him. Even the parrot and fish people
knew what they were.
Oh well 6 monthes or so of our lives is a small price to pay. If I and my
friends are so stupid and callous why do we all have geriatric wards for
some of our long term pets? Why after hours out at work earning enough to
pay for our hobby-books,light heat and cruise the internet till our eyes
burn out, our vet bills for a $3 anole would anyone think we cared! Okay
enough of being grumpy.
Does anyone else have ciliatus that positively refuse fresh ripe bits of
mashed fruit? Baby food is devoured but I have tried mango, papya, banana,
prickly pear and a few other weird and very expensive things and they ignore
it.
Margaret
