I would never trust that scenario........health dept is the way to go. Most
laws of these types are not enforced unless a complaint is filed. Some
groups have tried to make an issue of this, by suggesting that the police
are coming to your home to kill your pets. Truth is they dont have the
people do do this, nor th interest. The reason for the bans is often to
cover a city's liability for prospective law suits.
If you rent or have a bad relationship with a neighbor, they can make a
call and turn you in, if such bans exist in your area. This woudl be the
only reason for them to pay you a visit. Also if you take your banned
reptile out to a public place, like the mall.
