many large cities have enacted limited bans on certain species of reptiles.
Some of these happen after a serious incident, others with prevention in
mind. Some bans are extreme and foolish, some are very well thought out and
fair. You can call your local health dept. and ask them if they know of any
current bans. Here in Westchester county I made that call the first week of
moving here. The only current ban is on the sale of venomous reptiles. NY
state requires a venomous permit for keeping and of these animals in the
entire state.
