I don't know if anyone is sure how long a pill stays viable once it is
crushed and put into suspension. I suspect different drugs act differently.
At the clinic I work at we compound a lot of our own drugs. We crush
tablets and use a mixture of Ora-Sweet and of Ora-Plus for taste and to
help hold the drug in suspension. We only use these drugs for 2 weeks then
toss. Some owners have noticed a lack of effectiveness when they have used
drugs after this period of time. I am not sure how long a drug would last
when mixed with water or saline. When I mix a drug with saline I only use
it that day then toss.
