do a "netstat all" in shell and see if you see a listen on port 1080
or a mention of socks as a listen port... 
(you might have to add it in services etc... )

Email me and ask for  the lines if you need em since they are on

There should be no problems, I have only tried it on win95/98

Should be no problem, (i might have missed something though, I was
tired and it was verry hot when i read it.. )
