Hello Ian
->> OK, If I enable Socks wrappers, enter Server IP as 10.10.10.1 and Port as:

gives?
->
-> ?? Enable socks wrappers where?, Using a socks server where?, Using what
-> settings on the socks server?
YES!!
OK, I need help on the above....
I gather that I need to set up SocksServer on my Gateway computer. Is this
correct? And I also gather that Socks Wrapper shouldn't be enabled on the
same computer with SocksServer. Is that correct?
->
->> Is IPMASQ part of GENESIS? Or must I get it from somewhere else.
->> If so. Where?
->
-> Nope, I use a linux machine as dailup =)
So, with the way you have things setup, in order to have a working local
area network connected to your ISP, you must have 2 machines up and running?
Is that right?
I would like it to be only ONE machine.
My Amiga is ALWAYS up and running. It has my PhonePak card, which is my
answering machine (phone line#1). Also it controls things around my house
via X10 controller modules. So if it can also be my ISP gateway machine
(phone line#2), all the better. It would mean one machine is doing it all.
->
-> Use socks/ipmasq =)
How?
->> Does socks make this possible? Or how about socksserver?
->> There seems to be quite a few SocksServer settings to make.
->> How are they done?
->
-> auth sourcehost: - sourceports: - args: u
-> permit auth: u Commands: - Sourcehosts: <set it yourself =)> sourceports: -
-> desthosts: - destports: -
OK, I gather, the above is socksServer settings. I am not sure what you are
trying to discribe above. Is it a chart of the SocksServer settings or
example command syntax?
How about filling out or correcting the below chart?
Type Auth Commands SourceHosts SourcePorts DestHosts DestPorts Arg
permit u - <set it?> - - - u
Once again. My overall goal is to have 3 computers (one each NT,LINUX,WIN95)
access via the ariadne card in my Amiga, my ISP which the Amiga dials up.
My Amiga has IP 10.10.10.1 assigned to it. The dialup PPP is assigned
dynamically. I need to tell the 3 other computers to access the gateway
(10.10.10.1) which then passes them to (thru) the dynamically assigned PPP
interface to the internet. I know IPMASQ on a LINUX box allows for this
passing thru to take place. I am hoping that socksServer permits basicly
the same thing. Does it? Or is this accomplished some other way?
Thank you for taking the time to explain this all to me.
