Hi Michael and all, I just want to point at this study on bacteria growing in a methane-rich but oxygen-poor environment at the bottom of rivers and lakes. The microbes live on a diet of methane and nitrogen oxides, such as nitrite and nitrate, and actually produce oxygen.
