For once, I know a little about the subject. My Forney's original got
cracked and I flew home 25 miles with a rag soaking up the leakage. The
original had a bulge in it, because the black disk inside that the F- - E
scale peeks through was contoured to the curvature of the scale. I took
that out and found that a flat lens would work as well as a convex one.
So I made a flat replacement for the metal disk out of 1/16 aluminum and a
new lens out of plexiglass. That worked for awhile until I realized one
day that the plex was de-laminating from the constant presence of
gasoline. I re-made a new plex lens, but also made a second lens at the
same time from the plastic from a 2 liter Pepsi bottle which is too thin
to go it alone. I have found that stuff immune to everything. I used the
Pepsi plastic as a barrier to keep the gas from getting to the plex.
Seems fine now. I made new gaskets from the rubber/cork gasket material
you can buy almost anywhere.

Need info on rebuilding the inside fuel gage on left wing tank of a 1966
ALON #221. It is leaking and the gage face is discolored. Unvair said
good luck on finding parts including gaskets. Aircraft spruce the same. I
am going to try Skport next. Is there anyone out there with a known parts
source for this item or has had this problem and came up with a repair
fix. Please contact me . at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Also need to know where the fuel level in the tank needs to be in order
to remove the gage for inspection with out causing a fuel spill
Thanks in advance for any input
