Gmail is a free service. Google doesn't provide backups for free users, and hoping that they would go through backup media over a two month period, to hope to catch messages that were accidentally deleted, is not reasonable. If your Sent emails were deleted the moment they were sent, for example, there might be no record on any backup medium.
