I am having the same problem, hence I have found this thread. An important 
"sent" email never appeared in my Sent email folder. I can't find it 
anywhere in any of the weird folder structure that Gmail makes (Junk, 
Trash, Archive, Sent, All Mail, Sent Messages etc). Have given up looking - 
obviously Gmail has a major problem here and I may have to give up entirely 
using Gmail.
