Hey Andy, btw sorry I seemed to skip the first part of your text, I did 
check everything and found no reason for what happened. I'd say the chance 
that gmail had some kind of issue wouldn't be far-fetched.
As for the second part, being a free service and not having backups is not 
a reason to not even investigate a possible issue and sending a quick 
canned reply. Assuming the problem was created by the user is an easy 
answer. While some times (maybe many times) this could be true, assuming it 
so quickly doesn't seem proper.
