Not to speak for someone else, but you're getting close. It's not about money,
it's about
1) the poor quality of the product
2) the fact that the customer
a) can't see what's going on
b) can't control what's going on
c) is forced to buy upgrades when they say to
d) can't choose what other tools to use (because of secret file
formats)
e) can't write his own better/different tools (because of secret file
formats )
