Those (many) of us not from computer science backgrounds might not know
the proof of Turing's "Fundamental Theorem of Computation" (it is
IMPOSSIBLE for there to exist a program that can tell by examining them
if a program will loop if executed). However the proof isn't specific to
the behavior "enter an endless loop". You could substitute some other
behavior --- say "act like a virus" --- and the proof still works. <<

In other words, there can be no perfect virus checker. A virus checker
will either fail to identify some virus OR incorrectly label some
perfectly innocent program as a virus.
Did you get what "avast" labeled a virus/trojan from a trusted source?
If so, override that decision. Avast (or any other virus checker) MUST
sometimes get it wrong.
