Thanks,

The URL examples are simple to find:
http://maps.google.com/maps?output=html&q=heathrow+airport%2C+london%2C+UK
Give it a click. Its a handy local search. But in this particular case
there is no signed decimal lat/lng anywhere on the page.

I think the interesting question (if I were a map junkie) is that
latitude_e6=51472608, longitude_e6=4294519238 are probably not much to
crack, but not signed coordinates. They appear (at least in this
example), to literally be the coordinates but with the signs and the
decimals removed. (The real coordinates for Heathrow airport are lat:
51.472608, lng: -0.4294519238.)

The intriguing thing is how to know where the decimal goes and where
the signs go. For example, lat:51.472608, lng: +0.4294519238 is also
a real world coordinate, but not Heathrow airport. (In 2nd case I
flipped the sign.) The full URL to the image of Heathrow, which
Google can clearly deal with is
http://maps.google.com/mapdata?Point=b&Point.latitude_e6=51472608&Point.longitude_e6=4294519238&Point.iconid=51&Point=e&latitude_e6=51472608&longitude_e6=4294519238&zm=1200&w=600&h=400&cc=&min_priority=1

>From a mappers standpoint the e6 I think is significant too - having
something to do with polysomethings or max zoom, but I didn't think
had anything to do with the coordindates. I don't know what the
Point=b and Point=e params mean, maybe they hold the key. Overall, I
just can't seem to figure out what formula determines how to take
those parameters and turn it into a center point like Google does.

Unless someone happens by this thread who knows exactly what i'm
talking about, don't worry - i'm not meaning to beat a dead horse with
the folks here that have graciously spent the time to reply to me.
Thanks again and if anyone knows the answer on how to read and submit
those kinds of URLs, I'd welcome your post.
