qooxdoo looks indeed not bad but their showcase does not provide a lot of examples unfortunately (compared to others).
I can't afford expensive libraries unfortunately and like you both already pointed out it is a little unfortunate for startups. Not sure if one could say that I already have a startup but I try to start up a startup :) It is really hard to tell what would make me happy. I'd of course prefer anything that is not a pain to get along with GWT vanilla. So jQWidgets won't be my favorite then. And I am afraid that Ext JS isn't something for me either.
