IN Madani's speach yesterday, he addressed Kodiyeri who was present on stage and requested that he should take intiative in changing the pathetic predicament of prisoners in Kerala jails. Then he added that it is possible in Kerala whetreas unthinkeable in Tamilnadu. It is welltaken that his experience with Tamilnadu was bitter. But his observation runs against facts. Gireeshkumar, convenor of Anti death penalty committeee told me about his meeting two prisoners in Kannur jail . They were Tamilians. They opted Kerala jail just before electioin hoping that left will come to power and release eligible prisoners. Ironically, Karunanidhi released about 400 prisoners in connection with Annadurai's centenary celebrations whereas Keralappiravi celebrations passed without anything of that sort!!
