Peter, I'm replying to you about your response to me which states "5.
who doesn't even want to use Growl".  I DO want to use Growl, which is
why I've spend so much time trying to debug it.  I was trying to
determine why "Show Grolw icon in menu bar" wasn't showing it from the
very start of my computer session.  If you read my original posting,
you can see where I was experimenting with "Show Growl icon ...".
Turning Growl OFF led to the Recovered files problem, so I had to
continue in that mode to try and debug that problem.  Allow me to
quote what you said 08/29 10:27, "Many users don't understand where
Adium's install process ends, so  even if you know better, it's worth
not letting the misstatement stand uncorrected, for the benefit of
other, less-experienced users who may read this thread later."   So,
in that spirit, I'm responding to your assertion that I'm someone "who
doesn't even what to use Growl".  Please, let's not start a flame-war.
