Your welcome!  Apparently, my persistence paid off.  I only wish the "fix"
could be applied to Growl-1.1.6 (making 1.1.7 ??), so I can upgrade Growl on
my MacOSX 10.4.11 system (Tiger).  That would make this saga worthwhile for
me.
