OK, I was able to cause Recovered Files again.  This is what I did:  I
went into System Preferences -> Growl and I stopped Growl (it was
running).  I then launched Adium, and promptly Quit.  I then launched
Firefox, click "Clear Cache" (no message was displayed), and promptly
Quit.  I then Restarted my computer, and voila, there was the
Recovered Files folder in the Trash.  Here are the file names, dates.
times, etc.

Growl-99-9F7E73A7-7EEA-42A1-818C-7D1B140D5218.growlRegDict
Today, 3:16PM    96 KB    Document
Growl-251-17709876-8CC5-4201-BA7B-13EC5E082F15.growlRegDict
Today, 3:17PM    96 KB    Document
Growl-230-9DE6BE31-DA54-48A1-8A62-FAF6DD5307FE.growlRegDict
Today, 3:17PM    96 KB    Document

I hope you find this useful.  By the way, I had done Restart several
times before stopping Growl, and there were no
Recovered Files, but once I stopped it, there were the Recovered Files
you see above.
