Speaking of the "found with a stableboy/wench" scheme, any good ideas to do it under the following restrictions:
The mark does not have lecherousness and thus might not be interested in the lackey in your employ.
All involved parties in an illict affair would be punished rather harshly. It would be difficult to bribe a stableboy to look like he is the lover of the Barons daughter, if he has to face the wrath of the Baron afterwards.*
The marks (who are noble after all) can bring any commoner who makes advances on them plenty of trouble, just for doing so. So trying to wear down their resitance with persitence is a very risky strategy.
There likely is no time to place an agent in the household of the other family. Slandering anyone from the Barons daughter, her groom in spe, and the bride in spe, for the most likely dead lost son, all would achieve the goal, but agents will most likely have to be part of the Baron of Hoduroses household.
* If you are member of the right organsitions you might not need to fear punishment that much. But then as general rule your organisation will not like you to take part in conspiracies, and you already have a patron, so bribes or blackmails will be way more expensive. The baron of the neighbouring Barony of Dnir does take a more libertine view on things, and would propably grant some illict lovers asylum. But he would take exception at being played, he has the resources to find out eventually, and he does have both the leverage and the vengfullness to get at people outside his barony. It would be easily conceivable that a stableboy or similiar agent can be convinced, that all he has to do is flee to Dnir and then he is save.
But the head conspirator will need some plan, to prevent the Baron of Dnir from finding out what had happened. Silencing the agent permanently would be an obvious way, but that would have to be done without leaving tracks too, so it would not be easy, for someone who does not already have someone with assassination experience in his employ.
