Nice to be able to astronavigate via old style instrumets and sight, jsut in
case.
As well as for the tourism factor.
As well as some like to see the stars and not into being locked up in a
sphere or box or what ever for 100+ days.

Johannes replied to me:
This makes the assumption that the engines _can_ be placed
in front, or alternatively that the bridge should be built
without forward viewpoints.
I don't really see much place in high tech starship operation for
looking
out of a window. And that is the only reason i know to put the bridge to
the front.
Forward viewports may be considered the ultimate failsafe
against sensor failure. Not that a dead-stick landing is
very practical in most Traveller ships ...
Dead-stick doesn't automatically follow; sensors can fail due to combat or
environmental damage, and negligent or malicious maintenance for instance.
And with all the business about cultural stasis or cyclic repetition in
Traveller, viewports remaining or reappearing on space vessels millennia
after obsolescence is no stretch.
