So that my sweeping statements about battlesuits in GURPS are backed by facts and not just by gut feeling and a well-developed ego :-) > How is it to be utilized? > > Who is it to be utilized against? > > What are the enemy tactics? I want general-purpose infantry against an enemy with a comparable tech level and budget. Both sides value the life of their troopers, but they could be pushed to desperation tactics like masses of unpowered infantry if were workable. Nukes on habitable planets are bad style, but you prepare just in case. > Once you start working on those tactics, your next step would be to ask > yourself "How would combined arms tactics work with these units?" Tanks and infantry dig in. Tanks and infantry try to dig them out. Artillery might have a hard time -- it takes a direct hit to kill a battlesuit, not just a near miss -- but that could be balanced by seeker shells and large time-on-target salvoes. Gunships with rockets are another way to saturate point defense. > My suggestion Onno? > > Do what I tried to do, but make it even MORE fun. Is there enough interest for that? In recent years I got answers to my brainstorms, but not many vehicles or vehicle families in response to mine. > Of course, you don't even need to utilize the scenario I mentioned myself. > Just create your own scenario and take it from there. a) A battlesuit platoon to reinforce a TL9 unpowered battalion. b) A TL10 "light" company which operates without armored vehicles. c) The Space Marine detachment of a TL11+ interstellar cruiser. (I've done a TL11 space marine series, so it could be TL12 this time.) > In addition? You may > want to look up how much weight is involved with waterbeds. Just musing... I think an aquarium is even worse, easily over 500 lbs. and with a smaller contact area.
