If the dropships have hyperdrive, the true interstellar craft can stay safe in the outer systems. Even so, there is the question how to best preserve the troops. Is it a good idea to use payload for autodocs and artificial gravity (good for first aid and damage control, not just for comfort) or is it better to spend it on bigger sensors and point defense? I have a draft with some habitability upgrades, including a small galley and a toilet. And "only" 900 miles sensor range. Next bunch, a near future suit.
