The Star Wars suits had enough room in the legs and torso. The GURPS
rules don't allow that, unless the operator is completely within the
body.

That means it is completely impossible to suit up without help. For
a first-gen suit that is an acceptable flaw.

Each of those parts could be too heavy to lift without a hoist. Or
it becomes possible to man-pack the suit, which doesn't feel right.

How about this:

The suit is face-down in the truck, legs towards the rear hatch. The
back plate of the torso hinges up at the waist. The operator crawls
in backwards, first getting the legs into position, then he tucks
the head into the turret, and finally he wiggles the arms in.

Hydraulics move the suit backwards and then rotate it upright, so
the suit is standing facing the truck. If the truck systems are
damaged, the suit can get to its knees and crawl out. Likely this
wrecks the payload area of the truck.

The suit is about 17 cf and 9' by 3' by 3' with the arms forward.
The payload area of the truck needs something like 70 cf empty
space beyond the usual multiplier for a hangar to make this
possible.
