Jim

Thanks for sharing; it very much dovetails with what happened between
Asap and ASAW. As great as ASAP was for me, as disastrous ASAW proved as
the transition simply failed to work successfully for whatever reason.
GWMICRO has seemingly successfully made every pc transition as
Doug and DAN actually go back, at another firm, to the DOS days.
To Aaron, Doug, Dan, Mike and others whose names do not immediately come
to mind, that they have been able to keep the needed skills up-to-date
their work is truly amazing given the ever evolving landscape.
How these guys do it, and keep new product coming out the door boggles my
mind now that I think of it.
That need to learn, I am certain, may, to some degree, explain why
seemingly some simple things take a long time to come about.
Add to this that the product goes through extensive testing, and
subsequent correcting, explains even more.

And, you are right, Jim. Most of us end users could not tollerate a truly
buggy end product; so care and prudence (and due dilligence) must go into
deciding when something is ready to see the light of day.

Believe me, the more I think about it (and consider the whole thing this
morning), I am more and more impressed what a small firm such as GWMicro
is able to do and for the vast majority of users in most situations, do it
exceedingly well.
Sure, there are holes that they need to patch down the road (some of which
couldn't have been foreseen or uncovered in the developing process), but
that's the nature of the world of pcs.

I am old enough to remember when there were no pcs, no immediate access to
info, no streaming, no email, no games to play, in short, all this would
have been science fiction.
So even if the product isn't perfect today, and I wish it could do more or
do certain things better), I am more than satisfied.
Perhaps if my job or schooling were on the line, I would be more demanding
and less understanding.
However, given all the balls that GWMicro has to balance (and learning all
that need to do), they really do a bang up job.
And one should not forget that skill mastering is an essential part of
that development for, without it, things cannot move forward.
And that skill gathering takes time and continued effort which puts even
greater pressure both on the individuals involved as well as the company.
I am truly amazed in how They can possibly keep up with it all.
