Space-up or space-down to adjust the audio volume of the media player.
Also, I am not able to duplicate the Audible book lock up you describe.

On the subject of the media player, what did you say in a prior message
that would give you more volume? When I'm on dial a ride and the air
conditioner is blasting, the ear phones (Bose) aren't loud enough to
drown it out sometimes. And therefore, the music is softer than I like.
