The pot goes on the keybox side within easy reach of the thumb - a similar
arrangement is shown on my site, just click on the picture.

That's neat. Where do you mount the pot? I'd not expect to want to
adjust it very often; but making it inaccessible would defeat the
object. Maybe under the soundboard - with a nice-looking knob on the top
side?
