This is something we are considering but like you said, it isn't a magic bullet (and there is still the communication issue with an uneducated client, explaining to them what the "pure" verb means and why they care).

It's too bad there isn't some kind of "pure" indicator in the game browser that lets clients know that they are connecting to an unmodified server.
