again...permissions might be able to solve it....if the updater lacks the permissions to overwrite certain files (aka, user-modifiable files)....
then again...the big unknown is the updater's behavior when it encounters a file that it can't write to....will it gracefully skip it and go to the next or were the programmers lazy and make it so the updater gave a fit and quit?
