Use 'htop -d 1' to watch your CPU at a higher resolution. This won't catch all bursts, but it is better than writing your own logging app.

Use 'nload -t 10' to watch your interface usage at a higher resolution.

Have this on CS:S, although the TF2 on the same box runs fine for me. (and I
just copied over the rate settings and such from tf2 with no luck)
