I'm a strong believer of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it',
particularly when it's computer related. In fact, last year, while I
was talking to HP people about another issue, I asked about firmware
update. The lady there told me "if the printer is doing all I want it
to do, then don't update the firmware". I didn't.
Now, more recently, I, too, had a magenta problem. My utility told me
that three of my print heads were "out of warrantee" period. I
replaced all three print heads and problem was completely solved.
Besides, the DJ print heads aren't too expensive, so I put my vote
there. Hope this might help.

Hey folks...
I am a bit sceptical when it comes to firmware upgrades. For some
time now the 130 has been spitting nothing but beauty, and today
everything is on the magenta side. Perhaps my cyan is clogged. So i
thought there might be a utility for unclogging a head, but I dont
even have the maintenance software installed. I rarely interface with
it, as I use a EFI RIP. I have no info on the printer regarding a head
or ink, but I do get reddish output. So I looked on line for the
maintenance utility thinking I could use it for head cleaning, but
came across some updated drivers and firmware. I am a believer of "If
it aint broke, dont fix it"...but now it is semi broke...or ?
what do y'all think?
