Ah. A heavy-ish camera, and a super light tripod.
I also note that the G1 has a long zoom
capability, so using this would magnify
any movement.

Assuming you're using the self timer
and auto-bracketing features,
there is no source of movement
other than the wind - the G1 has
no mirror, so mirror-slap
can be discounted.

4 pixels of mis-alignment must also
mean (surely?) 4 pixels
of blur, at least in the longer
exposures, which turns a 12 Mp camera
into a 750 K pixel camera.

It sounds like a better tripod is needed,
more than a better GUI in hugin!
