Or fixes going on that have been proven bad (i.e., IBM's PE status). As far as I'm concerned, this is SMP's real value; it keeps the customer and vendor from shooting the customer in the foot. It does customers a disservice to suggest other vendors use this technique since it circumvents SMP's real value.
