I cannot answer your questions because I have never tried to put
something above the bar that was not AMODE(64).  Moreover, I do not
recommend atrempting to do so.  I will, however, conduct some
experiments over the coming weekend and post the results I get.

I do have a more general comment.

Bertrand Russell observed long ago that

No one can understand the word 'cheese' unless he has a non-linguistic
acquaintance with cheese.

What is going on above the bar is in some ways quite
different---cleaner, neater, simpler---than what we are used to.   Get
some first-hand experience with it.  That experience will inform and
change your comments.

I have been guilty of poking fun at some of the terminology used above
the bar, but that should not be misunderstood.  I would have named
some things differently, but I have nothing but praise for the quality
of the things themselves.  In particular, they cohere unexpectedly
well, making mostly reliable inferences about their behavior easy.
