I have started writing an essay on my personal views about OSS. It's
abstract starts as follows(as of now!):
A programmer attempts to explain Open Source Software to non-programmers
and to justify the demand for support for Open Source Software from
governmental institutions and the public-at-large.

I will foist this on the public in due time, see what the reaction is,
and if it can form a starting point.
This way, in case the reaction is negative or (most likely)apathetic, I
shall still have something to show for the effort.
