This is exactly what I meant when I used the word "impromptu". The day, 2nd Saturday/Sunday should remain 2nd Saturday/Sunday, come rain, hail or shine. This should be reflected on the website, so that the date of the meeting goes without saying. The date of the meeting and venue(if possible) should be reflected in the mailing list signature so that there is no way a member misses the date of the meet.

Thats a very valid point and I fully agree with u and I guess that is what a moderator is meant for. > could be easily ignored .. this is correct .. but this is not > what is happening ! in fact there is a good amount of healthy, > constructive, intelligent and fruitful discussion .. in the list > .. in the meetings .. > this is true .. we need many many more members to become > proactive and participate .. The problem which I pointed out is not that we dont have constructive, intelligent and fruitful discussion .. in the list .. in the meetings .. It is just that all the good work this group has been doin in the past year or so, needs to get just that little facelift in the meetings. Thats all. You missed out my suggestions in this post and noticed them later....so I wont repeat them here. Its that little "facelift" that gets more of the "lurkers" to come out of the shadows and start getting interested to participate proactively. >i need to lessen my burden too .. > > so this call .. would someone come forward and want to 'chair' > the meetings .. that means attending every meeting and keeping it > in proper shape, structure, and agenda .. and ensure the tech > component at every meeting .. this is one vacancy which needs to > be filled pronto I guess decisions of this nature are best taken at the meet. > good luck, good people .. may the good of the greatest number > gather momentum .. we ARE lucky .. the field is ripe for the seed > to thrive It is. The intentions and the actions are in the right direction too....we are gaining momentum fast....what I suggested was just another of those steps which need to be taken to keep this momentum going over a sustained duration of time. I have a final suggestion, why dont we make this discussion a part of our agenda for our next meet... (which I obviously cant attend 'cos I have exams from the 13th). Why dont we actually get a proper structure in place for the meets that we shall continue to adhere to, for say, the next 4 months ie Feb 2003-May 2003 ?!! > ..pk /Sumeet -- ___________________________________________________________ This message was brought to you by Linux, the free unix.
