Hi Allen, > As I a rule, we don't buy service contracts, extended warranties, > etc. and I don't think I want to start now with Apple computers. > Although I'd like to have a new computer every 3 years, I don't think > realistically that I'd need a new one that often, let alone afford > one that often. > As a rule, I usually don't either. They generally are a waste of money and just a way for the store to make extra dollars from you - especially on stuff like TV's. However, Applecare is the one warranty that I will buy simply because I love the piece of mind it offers and the cost of repairs more than covered the price of the plan during the second year of the warranty.
It's also a great selling point as the buyer has some piece of mind that even if his/her used computer does have any problems for the remainder of the warranty, it won't come out of their pocket and the new Mac user has unlimited access to Applecare Tech Support (during the warranty period). Anyway, enuf' said !! - Good luck with your decision. I hope it all works out for you and you enjoy whatever Mac you decide upon in the end, Amber -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
