Please please please remember that when people say they can only spend X amt of dollars for something, they usually REALLY mean it. Just because $150 is not much for you, it can sound a bit insulting to insist that it therefore should not be too much for me.
Also, I won't buy the damn warranties out of pure (misguided?) stubborness. I'll be damn if I'll support companies who try to blackmail me into buying insurance to cover their potentially crappy products. If Apple can't "GIVE" me a 3 year warranty for a $1500 computer AND if my $1500 computer won't last 3 years I'll go somewhere else. Just when did the shift occur from company responsibility for making a decent product to the consumer feeling paranoid if they don't buy and INSURANCE POLICY on the product for god's sake? I do know that once we head down this slippery slope, we're screwed and don't even know it. I had a pare of eye-glass frames go belly up on me last month, 2 weeks after the 1 year warranty. The company said that they were going to be creating the OPPORTUNITY for buyers to pay for extended warranties. This is a joke. The emperor has no clothes. And we smile and smile and smile as he shows off his new duds and WE pay for INSURANCE on them. Rantingly Yours (again), Dale "When something isn't right, it's wrong." --B.
