Panther might be out in a month or two. It might not.

Panther might be out next week. It might.

This seems less likely considering here hasn't been a FC release yet.

I have no idea what FC means but Panther has been on the newsgroups for more than six weeks.

FC = Final Candidate, usually the first indication that a produt release is a few weeks to a month away.

Reports from the 'evaluation' testers are this is a pretty spiffy OS more than ready for prime time.

<http://www.apple.com/macosx/panther> has a surprising amount of information about Panther.
